In just a few years of its existence, Amazfit has carved itself a solid chunk of the crowded smartwatch market. The company is counted among the top smartwatch brands globally thanks to its extensive lineup of feature-rich yet affordable products. A few months after introducing the rugged T-Rex 2, Amazfit is back with a couple more devices, the GTR 4 and GTS 4. Announced at the IFA 2022 in Berlin, the latest models share a lot of features but are still two completely different smartwatches thanks to their circular and rectangular dials, respectively.
Amazfit GTR 4 & GTS 4 boast high-end specs
The Amazfit GTR 4 sports a colored 1.43-inch circular AMOLED display with 466×466 pixels resolution and AOD (always-on display) support. It has tempered glass protection, an anti-fingerprint coating, and an anti-glare bezel. The watch gets an aluminum alloy frame with a stainless steel navigation crown. It weighs 34 grams. The dial measures 46mm in diameter and is 10.6mm thick.
This is a pretty big smartwatch and packs a 475mAh battery. This power unit is rated to last anywhere between 25 hours (continuous GPS use in accuracy mode) to 50 days (clock-only mode). Amazfit claims the GTR 4 can fully charge from 0-100 percent in about two hours.
If a circular smartwatch isn’t your type, Amazfit has the GTS 4 with a rectangular body. It sports a 1.75-inch AMOLED display with 390×450 pixels resolution and AOD. You get the same tempered glass protection and anti-fingerprint coating but this model seemingly lacks an anti-glare bezel. The frame is still made of aluminum alloy and comes complete with a stainless steel navigation crown.
The Amazfit GTS 4 is slightly smaller with a dimension of 42.7×36.5×9.9 mm and a weight of 27 grams. It understandably packs a smaller batter too, with Amazfit rating its 300mAh unit to last between 16 hours to 30 days depending on how you use the device. It takes the same time to charge, though.
Apart from the battery and screen, the Amazfit GTR 4 and GTS 4 share pretty much all the specs and features. Both models run Zepp OS 2.0 and come with a slew of health and activity-tracking capabilities. Amazfit has equipped them with its BioTracker 4.0 PPG biometric sensor.
The watches offer health features such as blood-oxygen monitoring, heart rate, sleep monitoring, stress monitoring, and more with alerts and reminders for any anomaly. You further get over 150 sports and activity modes with automatic detection. You can keep track of your progress through the Zepp app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. This app also lets you easily switch between over 200 watch faces (150 for GTS 4).
Industry-first navigation tech, Alexa built-in, and more
The new Amazfit smartwatches feature dual-band and six satellite positioning systems, which the company claims are industry-first. It supports route file import with real-time navigation. They come with a built-in microphone and speaker for Bluetooth phone calls. With offline voice assistant support, you can get a lot of on-device tasks done over voice commands. For online assistance, you have Alexa built-in.
The Amazfit GTR 4 and GTS 4 are 5 ATM rated for water resistance. So they will comfortably survive a swiping session or exposure to rain. You get WLAN 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and Bluetooth LE for connectivity. The watches also offer offline music storage.
Amazfit’s latest offerings are now available to purchase in the US. Both the GTR 4 and GTS 4 cost the same at $200. The former comes in Superseed Black, Racetrack Grey, and Vintage Brown Leather colors, whereas the latter gets Autumn Brown, Rosebud Pink, Infinite Black, and Misty White hues. Early buyers get a pair of the $80-priced Amazfit PowerBuds TWS earphones for free. The Amazfit GTR 4 and GTS 4 will hit store shelves globally by October.
