Google has just dropped the third beta build of Android 14 QPR2 for Pixel devices. Beta 3 fixes several bugs present in the previous release. The stable QPR2 build will arrive in a few months as the second quarterly feature update for eligible Pixel phones and tablets.

Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 arrives with bug fixes

Every three months, Google rolls out new feature updates to its Pixel lineup. These updates are called feature drops or quarterly platform releases (QPR). Ahead of the stable release, the company tests the new firmware package among users with public beta programs. Every QPR passes through multiple beta builds.

The first Android 14-based QPR arrived in December 2023. Google is now testing QPR2, which should hit the stable channel in March 2024. We have already seen two major beta builds of the second feature drop, as well as a minor Beta 1.1 release. The third beta is now rolling out to Pixel users enrolled in the beta program.

The Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 is available for the Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro with the firmware build number AP11.231215.007. The Google Play Services version is 23.45.23, while the January 2024 Android security patch is in tow for all models.

As far as bug fixes are concerned, Google’s official release notes state that Beta 3 addresses several issues reported by users and developers who tested Beta 2. These include issues related to Bluetooth connections, live wallpapers, Google Assistant, the device crashing or becoming unresponsive after restarting, and the device rebooting while in idle mode.

Additionally, Google fixed the issue of multi-finger gestures occasionally not working, the screen not responding to double-tap gestures or the power button, abnormal CPU usage during video playback, poor audio quality or high power consumption during making calls, haptic feedback not working, and the keyboard always showing up even if the “Swipe up to start search” setting was disabled in system settings.

Google has also fixed an issue specific to the Pixel Fold

The Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 also addresses bugs impacting system stability, performance, connectivity, camera, and accessibility of the Pixel lineup. Last but not least, it fixes a bug on the Pixel Fold that caused the inner display to remain powered off if the user unlocks the device when folded and then unfolds it. If you have registered your Pixel in the beta program, watch out for a new update in the coming days.
