Do note that the app’s UI is not exactly made according to the latest trends, so it may seem a little bit dated to some of you. In any case, that UI is extremely functional, and we did not have any issues using the app.

Now, this app is free to download and use, even though it includes in-app purchases. It offers real-time earthquake detection. It will also push earthquake warnings seconds before they occur. You’ll also be able to check out what other users are saying about earthquakes they’ve experienced, so that you can better prepare. This earthquake app offers live information from all around the world. Push notifications are customized for users in specific regions, and the app has a huge database of earthquake data. Earthquake data that you can find in this app dates back to 1970. You can also see various earthquakes on a map, if you want. If that’s not your preferred view, you can always use the list view instead.

The company utilizes Google Maps, and that view really does look nice. You can find the exact location, the depth, and the distance of earthquakes near you. It’s great at many other things as well, but the design is what lured us to this app. The app combines a white background with various different colors of the top-bar. That makes it easy to know in which sub-menu you’re currently at, and it simply makes the app look great. It’s not exactly in accordance with the latest Material Design guidelines, but this will certainly appeal to many people.

This app monitors earthquakes all over the world. It will show you a full list of earthquakes, both in a list, and on a map, if you want. You can even search for specific earthquakes based on the place they’ve occurred, their date, or a general keyword. You can also check out the closest cities to an earthquake epicenter, and get alerts for upcoming earthquakes. The magnitude limit for such alerts is customizable.

This app is not exclusive for earthquakes, it will also notify you of upcoming tsunamis. You can even check out the stats of the last earthquake / tsunami events, and monitor ongoing ones in real time. Various charts are available for your viewing. Volcanoes & Earthquakes app does not exactly have the most modern design, but it’s good enough. It may not be eye-candy, but it’s extremely functional, and the app works really well in general.

This app comes with a really useful map view, which will show you currently erupting volcanoes. You’ll notice over 1,600 volcanoes, both active and dormant. Volcano news are also included in the mix, and the same goes for earthquakes. You can check out earthquakes all over the world which are up to 7 days old. Notification support is also included in this app. The app can deliver near-real-time earthquake and volcano alerts.

You can also set custom alerts for specific areas, if you want, there are a lot of options. The app will deliver you data from multiple sources, over 40 international and national data sources, to be exact. You can filter earthquakes by continent, country, and state. It’s just as functional as many other apps on this list. The app does not really have an eye-catching design, like most apps on this list, but it’s really useful. Not many people care that much about the design of such apps either way.

This application can deliver near real-time seismic events notifications. It can also show you seismic activity analysis, which can be shown in the form of a graph we’ve mentioned. You can even define your own zones for earthquake monitoring via the ‘My Zones’ option. Notifications are also customizable in several ways. This app even has the ‘Voice Announcer’ option, which will use voice to speak event parameters to you, so that you don’t have to read if you’re not able to at the time.

You can check out the global seismic activity in real-time, by using double bar charts. There are two such charts available, frequency and magnitude charts. The app’s design is okay, but it’s not earth-shattering, the focus is on the content either way.

This app also brings a ton of details when it comes to every single earthquake. You can check out the overview map, and multiple solutions from different agencies. A map of the latest earthquakes is also available, while the app also allows you to submit ‘felt-reports’, in case you’re in an area struck by an earthquake. The app provides visualization of earthquake waveforms from the Raspberry Shake network.

This app visualizes earthquake and their information in a 3D format, on a 3D globe. That globe is quite simple, but also futuristic at the same time. It looks like something you’d see in old sci-fi movies. That’s not a bad thing at all, though, especially if you like that sort of thing.

That globe can show you earthquake magnitude, depth, and age. Tectonic plates are also visualized here, while earthquake tickers show the strongest earthquakes. You can tap each of those earthquake labels in order to see more info about a specific earthquake. Once you do that, you’ll also see the sharing option, which allows you to share that info anywhere else, pretty much.

The data provided by this app comes from USGS. You can see earthquakes from the last hour, day, 7 days, or 30 days. Ads are a part of the experience, but you can remove them. It’s a small, one-time payment. If you’re looking for a completely different earthquake awareness app, this is it.

Earthquakes Today is a considerably newer app compared the most of the others on the list. Still, this is a very compelling app, that also looks really nice. The UI is really simple, and the bottom bar can get you to different parts of the app in one press. The icons are also flat and modern. The app is also free to use, and it works really well. It delivers a live earthquake map with intensity markers.

Thanks to that map, you’ll be able to monitor and track the latest and strongest earthquakes. This app takes data from the US Geological Survey, so you’ll be able to get access to the latest earthquakes, not only in the US, but the rest of the world as well. This app may not be as feature-rich as some others out there, but it sure does what it’s supposed to, and it does a great job at that. This is one of the simplest earthquake apps to use, and probably the one you should try out.
