Samsung’s new transparent MicroLED display gives off hologram vibes.

Samsung had plenty to say at CES 2024, but nothing quite got our attention as much as the company’s new transparent display. Samsung showed off its transparent MicroLED display at CES 2024, and we decided to dedicate one of our CES 2024 awards to it. This new display really does have that wow factor, and many people agree based on the crowds that were attracted to it.

Samsung decided to tease CES 2024 attendees with its transparent MicroLED display

Samsung positioned this display next to its transparent OLED and transparent LCD displays. Why? Well, to show off how much better the MicroLED panel is. There are two key takeaways here. First, it’s much brighter, therefore it gives off a more realistic feel, and it’s more resistant to ambient light. The second takeaway is that it doesn’t have a frame at all, it’s a frameless TV, and does give off hologram vibes when you look at it straight on.

To make things even better, the TV that Samsung displayed is only about a centimeter thick. Needless to say, that’s not a lot, and it really does look outstanding. What you’re getting here is basically just a large see-through glass panel. It looks great in images and video, but when you see it in person, that’s when you really see the potential for it

The information is scarce at the moment, but it will be quite pricey

Samsung didn’t really share a lot of information about these displays, though. We don’t know if or when will they become available to purchase, nor what the price tag may be. We can only guess, of course. Chances are that Samsung will offer this at some point, so that’s the good news. The bad news is that it will be very pricey if it ever becomes available. Samsung’s MicroLED TV from 2022 which has a 110-inch display is truly expensive.

As is usually the case with tech, the price will go down, so that’s the good news. Regular MicroLED TVs will become more and more affordable, and we do hope the same will happen with this transparent TV at some point. We’re glad to see that Samsung is pushing the envelope in the TV sector, this sure is a move forward. It’s always interesting to see new and exciting tech, and Samsung knows how to deliver.
