The OPPO Find X5 Pro is the company’s brand new flagship. This smartphone got announced as part of MWC 2022. The OPPO Find X5 Pro is the recipient of one of our MWC 2022 awards. This smartphone has a lot to offer, and is one of the best phones announced as part of this year’s show, hence the award. We’re already reviewing the phone, and the full review will be out soon.

The Find X5 Pro comes with a premium build. The company used both metal and ceramic to make this phone a reality, and even though it’s obvious it’s related to the Find X3 Pro, it does look a bit different. It does stand out with this design, especially with the design of the rear camera island. The phone also has a lot to offer in the spec department, and so on. We’ll talk more about it below.

Premium build, premium feel

As already mentioned, the OPPO Find X5 Pro is made out of metal and ceramic. Ceramic is more resistant to scratches, and even though it’s heavier than glass, it’s tougher. It’s also less prone to picking up fingerprints, which is always a plus. The phone feels great in the hand, really premium. It’s not small, but it’s also not too big, while it feels right in the hand, it doesn’t cut into it or anything of the sort.

There is a display camera hole on the front, in the top-left corner, but the device does have really thin bezels. The camera shape on the back is rather odd, but it looks nice, while the display is curved. That is not something that everyone will prefer, but at least the curvature is not extreme. The fact its display is curved also helps with the width, and that benefits one-handed use, so… there you go.

Truly powerful specs

The OPPO Find X5 Pro is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. That is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date. OPPO combines it with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM inside this smartphone, while the company also included 256GB of UFS 3.1 2-Lane flash storage. All in all, it didn’t skimp out on the performance-related hardware. All that is backed by Android 12, and OPPO’s ColorOS 12.1 skin.

The phone is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while it has two nano SIM card slots. Stereo speakers are included, along with Dolby Atmos support. An in-display fingerprint scanner is of an optical variety, but it’s really accurate and fast, as you’d expect from an OPPO flagship. The phone includes a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display, which is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus.

Powerful Hasselblad-backed cameras, and the MariSilicon X factor

There are three cameras included on the back of the device, along with one on the front. The camera hardware is quite powerful, but OPPO also included its very own NPU in this phone, the MariSilicon X. And yes, the influence of that NPU is noticeable, at least based on our initial impressions, especially in low light. That NPU comes with an advanced AI noise reduction (AINR) algorithm that is capable of detecting and reducing noise in each frame, pixel by pixel, while preserving details, skin tone, and color accuracy.

A 50-megapixel main camera utilizes Sony’s IMX766 sensor with 5-axis OIS, and an f/1.7 aperture lens. A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera is also available, with the same sensor, but a different lens, of course. On top of that, a 13-megapixel telephoto camera also sits on the back, and all that is backed by Hasselblad. Hasselblad probably tuned the color reproduction, and who knows what else. So, all in all, it’s a really interesting camera package.

Large battery and blazing fast proprietary charging

The OPPO Find X5 Pro features a 5,000mAh battery, while the device does support extremely fast charging. OPPO included its 80W SuperVOOC fast wired charging, and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging. On top of that, reverse charging is also supported. OPPO’s proprietary charging does its best to keep the battery health high, while charging up the phone in no time. This is one of the fastest, and best-known fast charging solutions out there.
