BlackBerry Mobile is gearing up for a new launch event taking place tomorrow, August 2, when the Indian branch of the company will be unveiling two new smartphones identified by the Evolve moniker. The OEM has shared a few teasers on social platforms including YouTube and Instagram ahead of tomorrow’s presentation, hinting that at least one of these two upcoming devices should be equipped with a physical keyboard. Actual hardware details are missing as of this writing, but the bits of promotional material portraying its rear camera configuration suggest that this keyboard-equipped model is not the BlackBerry KEY2 but a new entry in the company’s smartphone portfolio.

The so-called BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X will be unveiled tomorrow and until then, the only information to go by lies in the teaser material at hand, which suggests that although the two phones are seemingly part of the same series, the Evolve and Evolve X could be fairly different from each other, at least in terms of their exterior. While one of the teased devices closely resembles the BlackBerry KEY2, complete with a textured back panel, this particular model’s main camera configuration is different, having an LED flash on the opposite side of the camera housing compared to the KEY2, or indeed the rumored KEY2 Lite. On the other hand, it’s unclear whether the second Evolve model will have a full-screen design or a physical keyboard in tow. Either way, the back panel accommodates a dual-camera setup positioned in the center, along with a rear-fitted fingerprint scanner, and these combined characteristics have yet to be seen on a BlackBerry smartphone model released prior to these teasers.

As for the internal hardware, so far the only smartphone launched by the company this year is the BlackBerry KEY2 manufactured by TCL, which houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM, while flaunting a 4.5-inch display with a 3:2 image format and a pixel count of 1,080 by 1,620.
