Element and Roku have now officially launched the company’s first outdoor-ready smart TV, dubbed the Element Roku TV, reports indicate. Billed as part of the former company’s Patio Series televisions, it is, in fact, nearly identical to those. The biggest difference is that the company built the new set to be powered by Roku OS.

That means that this television comes packed with an anti-glare display panel and an IP55 build designed to protect against the elements. For example, against water, dust, and humidity. It also means that this set comes with the series’ speaker design, meant to “cut through outdoor noise,” according to Element.

In terms of specifications, this television is only sold in one size as of this writing. With Roku and Element settling on a 55-inch display panel with a brightness of 700 nits. And 4K streaming is supported as well as HDR10.

What does Roku OS bring to this Element TV?

Now, as a smart home-ready TV, the Element Roku TV not only supports streaming apps and services. That includes all of those one would expect from a smart TV. Including Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+, YouTube TV, Hulu, and more via apps. But it also brings with it a customizable home screen. Stacking atop support for mobile remote and search functionality via voice or keyboard.

On the last of those features, this television is also listed on the company’s website as having compatibility with smart home ecosystems. Complete with Google Home via Google Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa, and Apple’s AirPlay and HomeKit. Moreover, this television also supports automatic updates, as well as mirroring and media casting. And, of course, the capability to save shows for later watching.

All of which is to say that this TV is ready for just about any outdoor entertainment experience buyers might want.

Pricing and availability

In terms of pricing and availability, the newly-announced Element Roku TV is currently available at Walmart for just $1,300.
