Google announced its first foldable handset today, the Pixel Fold. The device goes on pre-order today, while it will go on sale towards the end of the month. So, how much does this phone cost, how much will you have to pay in order to get the Pixel Fold?

The Pixel Fold pricing starts at $1,799, as was rumored

The Pixel Fold comes in two variants, the base model offers 256GB of storage, while the top-of-the-line variant comes with 512GB of storage. Here’s the pricing of the two models:

  •  Google Pixel Fold (256GB of storage) – $1,799
  • Google Pixel Fold (512GB of storage) – $1,919

So, the phone’s pricing basically starts at the same level as the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s, its initial price tag, that is. If you need more storage, by all means, go for it. These are US prices, by the way, they will differ in other markets, of course.

The Google Pixel Fold actually packs in powerful specs. It’s fueled by the Google Tensor G2 SoC, the same processor that fuels Google’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro flagships.

The phone comes with 12GB of RAM, and it includes two 120Hz displays. The inner, foldable display measures 7.6 inches, and offers a resolution of 2208 x 1840. The outer display measures 5.8 inches, and has a resolution of 2092 x 1080.

Google opted for an interesting camera setup here

Google also offers an interesting camera setup here. A 48-megapixel main camera is backed by two 10.8-megapixel units. Those two cameras are ultrawide and telephoto units. It’s interesting that Google decided to use different sensors here

The phone itself does resemble the Pixel 7 series, to a degree. It also takes a different approach to a book-style foldable. It resembles the OPPO Find N2 more than it does the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It leans towards horizontal orientation when unfolded, unlike Samsung’s offering.
