In a surprising turn of events, HTC has silently unveiled its new smartphone called the HTC Desire 21 Pro. This phone is a mid-range smartphone that comes with 5G support.

Notably, HTC has launched the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G in the home country of Taiwan. And we assume that the device won’t make it to other regions.

HTC has updated its official Taiwanese website, which gives us all the details regarding the device’s specifications and pricing.

Talking about the design, the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G comes with a familiar HTC-type design. The display on the device is a 6.7-inch full HD+ LCD panel with a punch-hole cutout at the center.

The resolution of the display is 1,080 X 2,400 pixels resolution, and it also sports a 90Hz refresh rate. The center punch-hole houses the 16MP selfie shooter.

On the rear, the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G, rocks a quad-camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth lens for portrait shots.

Under the hood, HTC Desire 21 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 SoC. This is coupled with 8GB RAM and offers 128GB storage that is expandable via a microSD card.

HTC Desire 21 Pro has a 5000 mAh battery and runs on Android 10

The smartphone has a solid 5000 mAh battery capacity that supports 18W Fast Charging. Sadly, it comes with Android 10 out of the box and not the current Android 11 OS. Yes, there is HTC’s custom skin on top as well.

Coming to connectivity features, Desire 21 Pro offers 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS. The fingerprint scanner is placed inside the gold-coated power button. As already mentioned, the phone is currently available for pre-order in Taiwan only.

Besides, there is no word about its global release. According to the official website, the phone will be available in Blue and Purple colors but won’t ship until January 21, 2021. The price of the device is set at TWD 11,990 which is approximately $430.

The converted price does not justify the device’s specs. So, we assume that hopefully, the price will be much lower for other parts of the world.

While it is good to see HTC making some efforts to come back into the smartphone market, but it needs to be more aggressive in the current smartphone market situation.

Where other OEMs are launching new smartphones, left, right, and center, HTC also needs to adopt a similar policy. Since the company has left the flagship smartphone space, it should concentrate on the budget segment.
