The Motorola Edge+ 2023 is finally here, and it’s a pretty good phone. It was announced on May 2, 2023, and could be an early contender for the best phone of 2023.

Now, this is the “Plus” model, which means we’ll likely see a cheaper non-plus model in a couple of months. Which is pretty typical for Motorola. But so far, the Motorola Edge+ is the only Edge model in 2023. And in this article, we’re going to tell you everything you need to know about it.

How much does the Motorola Edge+ cost?

The Motorola Edge+ will start at $799, which will be for the 256GB model. The 512GB model will likely be around $849-$899.

This is a pretty competitive price for Motorola, especially considering the specs here. It has higher specs in some areas than the Galaxy S23, and still is cheaper. So it’s a good value option here, solely looking at the specs.

When will the Motorola Edge+ be available?

The Motorola Edge+ will be available starting on May 9, exclusively at Boost Infinite and Boost Mobile. It’ll be available from Spectrum Mobile and Consumer Cellular following that. The unlocked model will be available from Amazon, Best Buy and Motorola.com starting on May 25 with pre-orders starting on May 19.

So far there’s no word on it being available at any of the main carriers – T-Mobile, Verizon nor AT&T. But that might change.

Over in Canada, the Motorola Edge+ will be available for pre-order on May 19 and go on sale on May 25. And it will have a price of $1,299.

Where can I buy it?

This is subject to change, but for now, you will be able to buy the Motorola Edge+ at these retailers and carriers:

  • Boost Infinite
  • Boost Mobile
  • Spectrum Mobile
  • Consumer Cellular
  • Amazon
  • Best Buy
  • Motorola.com

What carriers will support the Motorola Edge+?

The unlocked model of the Motorola Edge+ should work on all three US carriers – AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. However, that will depend on whether Motorola has gotten it certified with those networks. However, since it is going to be available from Boost Infinite, Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile and Consumer Cellular, it should work on the main carriers.

What colors does it come in?

Surprisingly, the Motorola Edge+ is only coming in one color this year, which is Interstellar Black.

This is a black color that does show some deep colors with different lighting. For instance, in the right color, you could see some deep purple, or dark blue on this one. But it is indeed black.

What new features are coming with the Motorola Edge+?

There’s not a lot of new features on the Motorola Edge+. While other OEMs will focus on adding the kitchen sink into their software, Motorola likes to keep it pretty bare. Which allows their phones to run really well, because there’s very little bloatware on-board. It also means that you’ll get to use more of that 256GB of storage.

68W wired charging

While it’s not the fastest, 68W wired charging is still really nice to see here. On top of that, you get that 68W wired charger in the box. Where a lot of its competitors are not adding the charger in the box anymore. That’s really nice of Motorola.

Motorola says that in just 9 minutes, you can get enough power for “the day”. Now we have no idea how much power that is, but it’s likely gonna get you from 0% up to 50%. Motorola does claim that the 5100mAh capacity battery will get you multiple days, so that does sound about right.

Now, there is also wireless charging available here. The Edge+ allows for up to 15W wireless charging, and also for 5W reverse wireless charging. Which can really be useful for charging a smartwatch or a pair of earbuds.

Dolby Vision Display

On the Motorola Edge+, the display is the star of the show. And it should be. It’s the first thing you see when you look at your phone. This display is a 165Hz pOLED display, that is also curved on all four sides. So it looks like things just melt off of the display. Motorola also got it certified for HDR. So with this one, you’re looking at HDR10+, Dolby Vision as well as certification for Amazon HDR. So you can watch Prime Video in HDR on this display.

It’s a stunning display, and definitely the selling point of this phone.

Should I buy the Motorola Edge+?

The Motorola Edge+ is pretty impressive on paper, however we have not yet gotten our hands on it, so it’s hard to say if you should buy it. But looking at the spec sheet here, it’s a really good option for this price. The quad curved 165Hz display is going to look amazing and feel great in the hand too. Motorola is also starting out with 256GB of storage here, while most of its competitors are still starting at 128GB. So definitely a good look there.
