The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra was announced at CES 2022, and it’s the newest flagship robot vacuum from the company. Technically, it is the Roborock S7 MaxV, with the “Ultra” part coming from the dock. As you will be able to buy it with and without the dock.
Essentially, the Roborock S7 MaxV takes the features of the Roborock S7 announced in 2021, and the S6 MaxV announced in 2020, and brings them together, into one robot vacuum.
In this article, we’re going to tell you everything you need to know about the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.
How much does the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra cost?
The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is going to cost you $1,399. Making it the most expensive robot vacuum that Roborock has ever made. That includes the Ultra Dock, which is going for almost $500.
You will be able to buy the Roborock S7 MaxV (basically, without the dock) for $859. Which is a bit more palatable. Though, still the most expensive robot vacuum that Roborock has ever released.
There will be a bundle that will get you the Roborock S7 MaxV with the older dock (the one from the S7, released last year) that will be a bit cheaper. Likely around $999 or so. There’s no pricing yet on that bundle.
When will it be available?
Officially, Roborock is saying the S7 MaxV Ultra will be available in the second quarter of 2022. But we expect it to launch around the end of March or early April. And yes, we know that March is still technically Q1. But Roborock keeps saying it’ll be available around the same time the S7 was last year, which was late March.
It’s unlikely that we’ll see other models get any discounts after the S7 MaxV Ultra goes on sale.
What features does the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra offer?
While a lot of the features within the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra come from the S7 and S6 MaxV released in the past few years, there are some new features coming to this robot vacuum. Here are some of the features that you can expect with the S7 MaxV Ultra.
ReactiveAI 2.0
With the S7 MaxV Ultra, you’re getting ReactiveAI 2.0, which is the next-generation of Roborock’s AI and Stereo Camera system used to avoid stuff on the floor. It debuted on the S6 MaxV a couple of years ago and was really good.
ReactiveAI 2.0 is powered by an RGB camera, 3D structured light, and an all-new neural processing unit. Thanks to these upgrades, it can now recognize objects in its path more accurately. It will also adapt to go around them easier, and can even identify furniture now. This also works to give you a nice 3D map of your home, which also puts furniture on the map. So you can see a more accurate floor plan of your home. Making it easier to have the vacuum clean up a specific area – like in front of the couch.
Don’t worry it can still identify and avoid pet waste too.
Video chatting capabilities
Another new feature, is with the camera on the S7 MaxV Ultra, you can actually check in on your home and see what’s happening. There is the ability to video chat, though it is only one way. So if your kids are at home, making a mess, you can yell at them through the vacuum. How cool is that?
Mop with soap
When it comes to mopping, there’s a pretty big change with the S7 MaxV Ultra. You can now use soap to actually clean your floors. Roborock has worked with Unilever and its OMO-brand to create an optional solution that is exclusive to Roborock robot vacuums. This solution will help get rid of bacteria as well as tougher stains on your floors. And it’ll leave a fresh tea tree scent. Finally, it is also safe for pets and kids.
This is a feature that users have wanted, for quite some time. And it’s great to see Roborock adding this feature. It’s also the only robot vacuum that can use soap to clean your floors.
The Ultra Dock
The Ultra Dock is honestly, the most exciting part of the Roborock S7 MaxV. This new dock can do it all, literally. Once the S7 MaxV docks, the vacuum is going to empty the dustbin as usual. But it will also refill the water tank, and clean the mopping pad.
On the dock, you’ll see that there are three containers. One is the dustbin, another for the clean water to refill the tank and the third is the dirty water container, which will need to be emptied from time to time.
Roborock says that the dock can empty the S7 MaxV’s dustbin for about seven weeks before it needs to be changed. That’s slightly less than the Auto-Empty Dock that Roborock released last year. But only a week. The bigger loss is the HEPA filter. And instead, you get the two water tanks for the clean and dirty water.
Increased Suction Power
Roborock raises the bar again, with its suction power on the S7 MaxV Ultra. It now boasts a whopping 5100Pa. That is a huge increase from the 2500Pa on the S7 released last year.
That also now leads the industry when it comes to suction power. The majority of robot vacuums are around 2500Pa. So this is more than double. What that means is that it is going to be able to pick up even more dirt and dust, that even you can’t see.
VibraRise Mopping System
Roborock brought over the mopping system from the S7 that came out last year. That includes the VibraRise Mopping System. That’s a feature that we all really liked, because it would lift up the mop when it is on carpet. Instead of just not cleaning the carpeted areas of your home when you are vacuuming and mopping.
This is a really great feature since other robot vacuums will just head back to the dock after it mops the floors, and ask you to remove the mopping module so it can clean the carpeted rooms. Which is honestly, very annoying. But great to see that is not an issue on the S7 MaxV Ultra.
Faster Charging
Roborock claims that the S7 MaxV is able to charge about 30% faster than its predecessor. Now for a lot of people, that won’t mean much. But if your house is large enough to where it cannot clean your entire home on a single charge, then this is going to be a really useful feature. As it’ll allow you to get back to cleaning even sooner.
What dock(s) are available for it?
Of course, the new Ultra Dock is available for the Roborock S7 MaxV. But if you don’t want to spend $1,399 on it, and don’t need the mopping features that the Ultra Dock offers. But still want the auto-empty feature? Well, the Auto-Empty Dock that debuted with the Roborock S7 is going to be available and will work with the Roborock S7 MaxV.
So far, Roborock has not mentioned any pricing for that bundle. The AED was $300 when it launched last year. So we’d expect it to cost around $1100-$1200.
And of course, you can use the regular dock for the Roborock S7 MaxV, which does not have any auto-emptying available.
Should I buy the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra?
Normally, no matter what vacuum Roborock puts out, we always say its worth buying. That’s because Roborock does offer the best robot vacuums on the market. And is always innovating on its robot vacuums. But the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is a bit tougher to sell, due to its price.
There’s not many robot vacuums on the market that are over a grand – really only the iRobot Roomba S9+. But we do think the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is worth buying, even at $1,399. Particularly if you have kids and pets. As they make messes, and it’s worth it to have a robot vacuum that can clean it up pretty quickly, while also avoiding other things like shoes, toys, and even pet waste.
Of course, we’ll know more once we get our hands on a unit and can do a full review on the S7 MaxV Ultra in a couple of months.
