More than three years after the launch of the Galaxy Fit 2, which debuted in September 2020, Samsung is finally preparing a successor to it. The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Fit 3 in the coming months. Leaks and regulatory certifications have already revealed its key specs and design. As we wait for the Korean firm to announce the launch date, the new fitness tracker has popped up in another certification listing.
Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 certified by the TDRA
The Galaxy Fit 3 was recently certified by the TDRA (Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority) in the UAE. Spotted by MySmartPrice, the listing on the official TDRA website mentions the full name of the product along with its model number, SM-R390. While we have long known the model number, this is the first time we have seen its name on an official document.
This certification doesn’t reveal anything else about the Galaxy Fit 3. However, we do already know a lot. A major leak last month revealed that the device will feature a 1.61-inch display with a 302 ppi pixel density. That’s a substantially bigger screen than the 1.1-inch panel on the Galaxy Fit 2. This is because Samsung is making the new model wider, more like a smartwatch than a fitness band.
Despite being bigger, the upcoming Fit is said to weigh the same as the previous model. This suggests the Galaxy Fit 3 will be less bulky—Fit 2 is 11.1mm thick. Since it isn’t a full-blown smartwatch like the Galaxy Watch lineup, the device will offer a long battery life, allegedly going up to 21 days on a single charge. Samsung rated the 2020 model to last up to 15 days on a full charge, so we might get a bigger battery this time around.
Leaked renders showed the Galaxy Fit 3 in Gray, Silver, and Pink Gold colors. The upcoming fitness tracker has a button and a microphone hole on the right side. We expect it to offer a wide range of health sensors and features, including a heart rate monitor, SpO2 sensor, and sleep tracker. The device should also boast multiple workout modes and may come with built-in GPS functionality.
The new Fit will be relatively affordable
Leaks have also revealed the pricing details for the Galaxy Fit 3. Samsung will reportedly price it at around $80. While that makes it more expensive than the Fit 2 ($60), the Korean firm will still undercut the Fitbit Charge 6, which currently costs $100. You won’t get rich third-party app support but it should be well-equipped to qualify as a comprehensive health-monitoring device. Stay tuned for the official announcement.
