Verizon is back with another open window for enrolling devices in its Mobile Protect insurance program. Customers who didn’t sign up for the program at the time of purchase or within the stipulated time after the purchase now have a second chance to enroll. The latest open window runs through October 19, 2023.

Verizon Mobile Protect is a smartphone insurance program that offers damage repairs and device replacements at discounted rates. It covers various sorts of damage (including liquid damage) and post-warranty malfunctions, as well as loss and theft of the device. Earlier this year, the carrier added unlimited free screen repairs to the program. It previously charged a $29 screen repair deductible for every claim.

The wireless giant also recently lowered the replacement deductible for Verizon Mobile Protect from $249 to just $99. If your phone suffers unrepairable damage, you can get a new unit for just $99. Once enrolled in the program, you can make an unlimited number of replacement claims with a $99 deductible per claim. Other perks include same-day delivery, data recovery, and seamless setup. You also get digital security tools and expert tech support.

Priced at $17 a month for a single device or $60 a month for three registered lines, customers have to enroll in Verizon Mobile Protect within 30 days of purchasing a device to get these benefits. However, not everyone does that. Some customers just choose to get third-party insurance, while others are not willing to insure their devices at all. A few others plan to buy insurance later. Verizon’s open window gives them a second chance.

Verizon gives customers an open window to enroll in Mobile Protect

According to studies cited by Verizon, an average human being reaches out for their device an estimated 352 times a day. A simple calculation reveals that we are checking our phones once every two minutes and 43 seconds. Unsurprisingly, 88 phones are damaged every minute globally. Among Verizon customers alone, one out of every six customers lose, damage, or get their phone stolen every year.

These numbers suggest it’s a good idea to get your phone insured. Verizon customers who haven’t signed up for the company’s Mobile Protect insurance program can do that now no matter when they purchased the device. The carrier launches these two-month open windows once in a while. The latest window opened this Monday, August 21, and will accept enrollments until October 19.
