Smart rings are slowly but surely becoming a thing. Oura rings are well-known at this point, while Ultrahuman’s offering has been making the headlines for quite some time now. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Ring soon, maybe even this month, though that’s not as likely. That being said, we’ve seen several interesting rings at CES 2024. The Amazfit Helio Ring arrived, and now we’re here to talk about the “whispering ring” that VTouch announced.

The VTouch WHSP Ring is the world’s first “whispering ring”

The company says that this is the “world’s first whispering ring”. Its name is WHSP Ring, and it comes with ‘whisper’ tech. This ring is ideal for use in noisy environments, in case you need privacy.

VTouch wants you to think of this ring as a personal AI device on your hand, kind of. This ring comes with integrated proximity sensors and AI speech recognition. That way it’ll know when a user wants to speak to it.

You’ll be able to speak to AI assistants via this ring

VTouch says that this ring will connect to a dedicated app, and offer a number of AI assistants to help you. Some examples that Engadget got shown include an AI Art Curator and a digital Psychiatrist.

This ring will also allow you to interact with your smart home simply by speaking. I actually thought people would be able to make calls via this ring, and that should still be possible, but it wasn’t specifically mentioned in the materials that VTouch shared. I want to believe it’s a given, but we’ll see.

The VTouch WHSP Ring will last about a day and a half on a single charge. Its charging case will extend that to 9 days, similar to how cases of truly wireless earbuds do. You will, of course, need to charge that charging case after a while.

There is an emergency button on it, and it’ll soon launch on Kickstarter

VTouch also mentioned that any responses from the assistants will be routed to your headphones, the ones that are connected to the phone. Now, this ring also has a button on it, and if tapped five times, it will trigger a system to alert your contacts of a potential emergency, and will also start recording audio.

This rather unique ring will soon launch on Kickstarter. We still don’t know how soon, or how much will it cost, though.
